Don't Forget His Goodness

As we continue in our series of Psalms 23, I want to encourage you to think about how God called you to Himself. It nothing more than His grace and mercy shined towards us that enables us to worship Him! If you are like me (moment of transparency here)- when 'life' is going good I have a tendency to forget what it took to get there...or the valley I had to go through to get to the mountain top I currently stand on. Maybe I forget to count my blessings from time to time. I encourage you all reading this: Let us press on towards God's goodness with a thankful heart.

4 THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN I FORGET GOD’S GOODNESS:

I. I START TAKING CREDIT FOR THINGS GOD DID FOR ME.

“What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if all you have is from God, why act as though you are so great, and as though you accomplished it all on your own?” 1 Corinthians 4:7

SEE FURTHER SCRIPTURE: Luke 12:13-21, Acts 12

II. I STOP ASKING GOD FOR HELP.

Jesus: “If you, as imperfect parents, know how to give good gifts to your own children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him?” Luke 11:13

SEE FURTHER SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 4:16, Psalm 69:16

III. I STOP TRUSTING GOD IN DIFFICULT TIMES.

“Protect me, God, because I trust in you. You are my Lord! And every good thing I have comes from you!’” Psalm 16:1-2

SEE FURTHER SCRIPTURE: Romans 5:3, Romans 8:28

IV. I BECOME PESSIMISTIC ABOUT THE FUTURE.

“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I’d see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Instead I thought ‘Wait for the Lord! Be strong and let your heart take courage! Yes, wait for the Lord!’” Psalm 27:13-14

SEE FURTHER SCRIPTURE: Philippians 3:12-14, 2 Cor 12:10
