Galatians 5:25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
HOW IT CAME ABOUT
Last week I talked about the focus or ‘Vision’ I want to have in 2019 for our church. This process begins for me as a pastor each year around October as I ask God to show me what the next year has in store. This year felt a bit different as we were also re-branding the church as Faith Alive Fellowship. There are a lot of back end details to re-launching a church and I am thankful for a team of elders helping this process along. Special shout out to our secretary Barbara who went above and beyond. Everything was falling into place…but one thing- What would our focus be in the new year? What would it be for this church? and what would it be for me personally and my family? I continued to pray and think about it not wanting to think up a ‘clever gimmick’ or a ‘trendy statement’ just to check that box off. My answer finally came when I had ‘windshield time’ driving back from Christmas Break.
Holy Spirit gave me that nudge: You’ve got to keep in step with what I am doing. Keep walking with me and be led by me and I will show you what to do and how to do it.
I was driving on I-70 and there it was! Really it was a cry of my own heart- to be led by Holy Spirit in a greater way than in years past…to give more of myself to His work…to find out what He is doing and get in step in 2019. Once God speaks a word to your heart it is our responsibility: to search it- pray it- work it out. It’s also vital to go to the Bible and make sure the word spoken lines up with Scripture. That is eventually how I found Galatians 5:25 and the Focus for 2019- KEEPING IN STEP. I’ll blog more about how we Keep in step in my next blog.
