Sermon Notes- Jan 24, 2021
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” Acts 9:1-4
10 In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered.Acts 9:10
PURPOSE: the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
4 THOUGHTS ON A RENEWAL OF PURPOSE:
I. GOD MADE YOU ON PURPOSE AND FOR A PURPOSE
SCRIPTURE: Genesis 1:27, Psalms 139:13, Jeremiah 1:5
II. THE PROBLEM: MISPLACED PURPOSE
SCRIPTURE: Haggai 1:3-6, 1 Tim 6:18, Matthew 19-21
III. GOD WILL ALLOW DIVINE DISRUPTION/INTERRUPTION IN YOUR LIFE
SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 55:8, Acts 16:16-40, Mark 5
IV. GOD WANTS TO RENEW YOUR PURPOSE
A. Renewed purpose given to us from God will always align with what God has already stated in the Bible.God will not contradict His Word as he gives us instruction. Does the thing you believe God is leading you to sound like something God would want?
B. Renewed purpose for our lives is almost always something that we cannot do on our own. God’s plan for us requires his involvement and empowerment for us to be successful. The Holy Spirit in our lives will guide us as we move into new endeavors.
C. Renewed purpose is often confirmed through obedience. Rarely does God give us the entire picture at once. Living out God’s purpose for our lives requires faith and means we must step out in order to find out.
Lord, thank you that today you are renewing every area of my life. In YOU I put my hope and purpose as I know YOU hold my future. Lead me in your ways and allow me walk in all you have prepared in advance. Today I say ‘YES LORD’ and declare I will speak YOUR word boldly over my life- and into the lives of others around me. Amen!
